Dreams: "The end"

Updated: Sep 20, 2022

(Pascal, man - age 40)

Dream:

"I am in charge of the group of soldiers, and our mission is to get to the haunted house on the top of the hill. There is a dangerous path that leads to the house. We are aware that despite many attempts, no one could pass this road ahead of us.

"This is the end, beautiful friend This is the end, my only friend The end of our elaborate plans The end of everything that stands" - The Doors

However we get through very efficiently and without any problems. On the way, we use the trick i.e. we walk sideways, which seem to do the trick and make the way easy quite easy after all. At the top, we find the destiny of our trip. The haunted house. I find it very strange that we are not afraid at all. We come inside the house, and there is a family. They look like the "Addams family" but don't seem dangerous and are only just a bit scary. Suddenly, huge spacecrafts appear in the sky, as if it's end of the world. We are trying to fight back and I shoot in the air, but this doesn't seem to be doing anything. It is clear that we don't stand a chance. Me and two other men are trying to hide and we hope to survive. One is tall and strong and the other is short and looks a bit funny. We enter an old tenement house and find a room in one of the apartments. The room looks a little like a garden hall, and through the glass door and window I can see the garden outside. There is water in the room, about knee-deep. The taller man notices the water and suggests looking for another place. The short man one says that the world will end in a few minutes anyway, so there's no point in wasting time. We wait, the short guy shows us a condom and is L size, I say if he was XL size he could use it as a sleeping bag. We laugh and wait for the end."

Dream interpretation:

Climbing the stairs in charge of the group reveals a strong intention to develop and to find out something about himself. The road he has to go through in the dream turns out to be haunted, which shows that the inner path might as well be paved with "ghosts" from the past. In this context, ghosts would represent the memories and the past motivations pushed into the subconscious. The ability with which he makes his way through in the dream unveils a lot of confidence and determination to discover the truth waiting at the end of the road.

Interesting fact about dreams is that the whole world presented in the dream uncovers the fragments of the Self i.e. of whoever dreams the dream. Thus, the house at the top of the hill in fact also symbolises the dreamer. He recalls that in the dream they come across the Addams family that seems to be less dangerous and scary as he expected. Inside the house he gets in touch with a repressed peculiarity of his own, that turns out to be less disturbing than it seemed on the outside. At this point, the dream is interrupted by Armageddon. The armageddon symbolises his inner conflict that begins when the dreamer touches that part of his consciousness to which he was searching. It turns out that the moment when he reaches a certain truth, causes a subconscious conflict. The conflict of two contradictory parts of his personality. After a short fight, he realises that he is doomed to failure. During the escape, he hides together with two men in one of the apartments. The room they enter resembles something like a garden hall. The garden itself symbolises the part of the dreamer's Self, which in reference to the impending mental death is at his fingertips, and such closeness to one’s Self also symbolises access to what he deeply feels. The water in the room is a symbol of what is left of his consciousness, as well as that part of his consciousness that is so difficult for him to shed on his way to change. Both men represent parts of his personality that he wants to keep with him. The little man with the L-size condoms reflects his inferiority complex. The second man was depicted as big and strong, so he reflects the character traits that the sleeper associates with his inner strength. An interesting way to look at the end of a dream is to see two men as one with the dreamer himself. In other words, on the way to change, he is unable to withdraw from the strength that comes from his own inferiority.
